Comedy “Three-Fifty” is a hit on the film festival circuit, European cable, Asian cable and now, in the classroom. Hilarious and meaningful to our times, the mythology of “Three-Fifty” has universal appeal. Though presented as comedy, “Three-Fifty”‘s theme of privacy rights, dishonesty, consequences and redemption stimulate discussions.

“Three-Fifty”  and it’s Teacher’s Guide have been chosen by varied instructors.  On the security and privacy rights side “Three-Fifty” was chosen by an instructor for a Post-Naval Academy  course in surveillance.    On the artistic side, a composer chose it to enhance his residency at Maharishi University.

  • The “Three-Fifty” Teacher’s Guide includes:

    A) 1 DVD of “Three-Fifty”  (NTSC)  Currently available only in English

    B) PDF of “Teacher’s Guide” which is ten discussion questions and exercises for use in the classroom. The teacher’s guide was written by Jungian and Terra psychologist Craig Chalquist, MS, PhD.

Posted on Updated on

here’s our formal press release — watch for the informal notes on later posts, today. 😉 Melinda

Los Angeles, CA—January 11, 2008  – The Santa Barbara Film Festival has named Maurice Chauvet’s award- winning short comedy film THREE-FIFTY as one of its official selections for 2008.  THREE-FIFTY screens on Friday, Janaury 25 at 9:30 pm and Thursday January 31 at 12:30pm.  The Santa Barbara Film Festival runs January 24 through February 3, 2008.  Full screening schedules will be posted at www.sbfilmfestival.org shortly. THREE-FIFTY has won a total of three awards on the 2007 film festival circuit — two audience awards and one “Best Picture” award for an entire festival (chosen over all short and feature films).

THREE-FIFTY
’s hilarious tale of late fees, privacy rights and just how much information is available at the touch of a button is charming film festival audiences around the world.  From its world-premiere in Aspen to Nashville, Milwaukee, Palm Springs, and many more, THREE-FIFTY has played 14 festivals in the US and Europe.  THREE-FIFTY’s world premiere was at Aspen ShortsFest 2007, and European premiere was at CineGlobe2007 in Geneva Switzerland.   THREE-FIFTY was written and directed by Maurice Chauvet (Owning Mahowny, Sony Classics 2003–Canada’s Genie Award nomination).  Other production credits include:  Jesse Rivard, Producer; Melinda Augustina, Producer & Executive Producer; Barry Norwood, Cinematographer; Eric Grush, Editor; and John Abella, Original Music Composer.
One of the unique features of THREE-FIFTY is that it was begun as a solar powered project.  Also unique is the origin of THREE-FIFTY.  Developed on stage at Chauvet’s theater company in Venice, CA, the film version of THREE-FIFTY stars the same actors who created the roles on stage:  Evan Grensted as the beleaguered video customer, Michael Angelo Stuno as the dutiful “clerk behind the counter” and Melinda Augustina as the worldly-wise video store manager. THREE-FIFTY’s blog, trailer, full cast and crew list and upcoming film festival schedule can be found online at www.myspace.com/threefiftythemovie and at www.threefiftythemovie.com  Blog can also be directly accessed at https://threefifty.wordpress.com. About Power Hungry Productions:  Power Hungry Productions is “The sustainable production initiative”SM.  THREE-FIFTY is their first short film and was produced partially with  solar power.  Power Hungry Prouctions was founded by Melinda Augustina in 2006 to produce
THREE-FIFTY and additional “stage to film” shorts and feature length films.

Three-Fifty screens at Beloit International Film Festival

Posted on Updated on

Our comedy, short film THREE-FIFTY will screen in Beloit Wisconsin at the Beloit International Film Festival… January 17 – 20.   Festival Operations Director, Greg Girard saw THREE-FIFTY in Milwaukee and phoned us from the road on his drive back to Beloit.  “We love it!  We want you in Beloit.  I just sent you an email, but I wanted to talk to you in person!” he said.   “Ok!” I replied, “Sure! Beloit! Sounds great.  Where is Beloit?”

Beloit is Beloit, Wisconsin.   Moviemaker Magazinecalled Beloit International Film Festival “the next big thing” and a “must-attend event.”

I made many trips to Wisconsin when I lived and worked in Chicago, IL.  The train ride is beautiful and I’m sure the January landscape will bring beautiful snowy sights to anyone who attends.   We’ll have a THREE-FIFTY supporter there in person who can share the stories of the making of THREE-FIFTY with you.

We want to say a personal “THANK YOU!” to Greg Girard, Operations Director  and Rod Beaudoin, Executive Director of Beloit Int’l Film Festival for seeing the value and humor in THREE-FIFTY.  You have great taste.  We are honored to be chosen for this outstanding festival and send wishes of great success for Beloit Int’l Film Festival 2008.  Thank you, Thank you.    Remember, almost everything you want to know about THREE-FIFTY is at www.threefiftythemovie.com and then there are more photos, slide shows, video clips at www.myspace.com/threefiftythemovie
