“Three-Fifty” next festival stops? Lithuania’s Vilnius Comedy Festival

Posted on Updated on

Lithuania is home of Vilnius Film Festival and this year Vilnius decided to          create Vilnius Comedy Film Festival and take the laughs out to the people.  “Three-Fifty” will screen in three (3) Lithuania cities in the next few weeks.   Which cities? So glad you asked.  Here is a map of the cities so you can follow along…

Lithuania has special significance for me (Melinda Augustina) as my first college level acting professor was from Lithuania.  He came to America as a young child when his family was fleeing Europe in WWII.  His name was Joseph Daubenas.  He was TOUGH — we were hopelessy naive.  We loved him and realized (somewhat) how lucky we were for him to have chosen to teach in Kansas City for a few years while working on his PhD.   He had studied and taught at American Academy of Dramatic Arts and acted and directed in New York for many years working a lot with Harold Clurman and orignating some roles Off-Broadway.   In one article Daubenas was called a “Tasmanian Devil” by a reporter who watched him direct a rehearsal in New York City. (Tasmania is pretty far from Lithuania, but it’s still a fun reference.)   One of his television roles was as a Mad Scientist — and that he was.

We are honored that “Three-Fifty” will screen in Lithuania and enjoying this great lesson that energy eventually returns from where it came.   And so we sign off with the Lithuanian National Anthem and photos of their beautiful country. Thank you, Lithuania.  😉  http://bit.ly/1aERfs

May we have your liver?  Ha, ha… couldn’t resist.
Laugh all the way down to your liver when you see  hilarious comedy “Three-Fifty” in Livermore Valley Wine Country at the 11th Annual California Independent Film Festival, April 16 – 19.

Films and details of their screenings are listed here: http://caindiefilmfest.org/calindie/films.html
I don’t see the exact time and place of the screening for Three-Fifty but we’ll keep checking the site and post the complete details as soon as they share them with us.

Founded by Derek Zemrak, the  California Independent Film Festival began in 1999 and is now the fastest growing film festival in California, screening over 1,000 independent films from the US and around the world.    On April 18th, the festival’s Lifetime Achievement Award will be presented to Ms. Dianne Ladd (Laura Dern’s Mother, y’all). Ms.  Ladd is recipient of numerous awards in televison and film including a three-time Oscar nominee.

Thank you, Sonoma!!!!!

We have to say Sonoma International Film Festival is an outstanding festival.  We had a great time and the films are excellent.  Sonoma is a beautiful, completely live-able,  little town and the people are extremely gracious.
Me:  The people are so happy!
Co-producer:  They’re within walking distance of the best wineries in the country.  Of course they’re happy!

Smart, fun audiences who are so curious about the filmmakers. Great parties, (more wineries) and their awards?  ha, ha…get this – magnums of wine are their statues with the award hand written on the bottle in silver ink.  Score! Wish we had scored an “award” like that, yet we are content with our five awards.

We stayed outside of town in a guest house with a view that will knock your socks off. Hills, vineyards, trees, more hills, green grass, flowers everywhere,  a few cows, a few sheep – truly – extraordinarily beautiful you can barely believe it’s real.  We’ll post photos as soon as we can — and we’ll post our wine notes, too.  Food, wine and film — so perfect.  Be sure to put it on your calendar for 2010.   You will have a magical week.

Sonoma Int’l Film Festival screens “Three-Fifty” twice.

Tallgrass Film Festival

Posted on Updated on

One of the great beauties of the state of Kansas is the prarie grasses that grow along highways and when you’re lucky – in open fields.  Prarie grasses smell a little like hay – sweet, salty, and a little woody, all at the same time.  The sound of the wind blowing through them is a soft hello.  They are full of the subtlest color distinctions of greens and golds and everything in between.  They wave in the wind with a softness that beckons you to lay down in them and when you give in to that call, the reward is as cushy as a down comforter.  A little closer to the ground — but soft and cushy.

Kansas is where I grew up, as many of you know.  And so we are very proud to let you know that THREE-FIFTY will be in the Tallgrass Film Festival.  I can smell the grasses right now!  October 23-26 is the date and Wichita, Kansas is the place.

More love from France…
